Default Better options elsewhere...

Honestly there are better options closer to Elmwood Park on Harlem --IL Giardino Del Dolce. Lots more Italian folks still live around there or River Forest than near Taylor St...

Sicilia on Lawrence at Austin is very good too.

The main Turano's shop on Roosevelt in Berwyn is also very good.

There is a place on Lake St in Addison called simply Italian Bakery that is superb.

There are more cigarette break UIC / VA employees at the place on Taylor St that would not know stale from fresh with their dead taste buds...

Go to Mayfield Road in Cleveland's Little Italy.

Default Honestly...

The stuff they serve at Pompei is no better than what you can get at a grocery.

Maybe Buena Terra , it's in Logan Square.

Get a nice beef & grilled sausage combo at Al's. Get a cannoli someplace with Italian bakers that are good.

Also a favorite of the old Elmwood Park / River Grove / Melrose Park families...

This 2-foot long cannoli of cannolis was spotted by me at A&G Market on Belmont near Central on the NW Side.
