What are your requirements? For your housing, how much money do you want to spend for that month? Is there any location you need to be close to or be able to easily get to?

Downtown would be great! safety is the first concern... better close to the train station...

About the price... around $1200 to $2000 max.

I don't mind if it's a studio without bedroom, but require private bathroom...

For a normal apartment, $1200-$2000/month is quite easy. However, you will be here for just one month and most places in Chicago only do 12 month leases. You will have to either find a place with short team leases or find a sublease online somewhere. You could spend less if you really want in other areas by the way. Chicago is much, much more than its downtown area.

These places have short team leases apparently:

If you need help finding downtown let me know..or if you're wondering about other areas..

how about a hostel? there are some nicer options and you can pay extra for a single room. The Urban Holiday Lofts in Bucktown come to mind. And of course, you could always just book a hotel room for a month and you'd have more privacy and not have to deal with the social aspect of hostel living. These options will be far easier than signing some sort of short-term lease or subletting.

I think you'd want to stay in a neighborhood more than the Loop.

You might take a look at https://www.airbnb.com/ , it's pretty much made for people looking for what you're wanting. People rent out their condos or rooms in their apartment or houses or whatever else for travelers, and it's usually cheaper than a hotel or other business.

^ Those are good, though even 30 days on AirBnb for a moderately cheap room even out in Logan Square and you'll probably be paying over $2000 for it total ($80/day let's say). Hostel may be the same thing. Unless there are places on both for extended stays.

I would think that if you were planning on staying a month that an airbnb host would be likely to cut you a deal.

Most probably won't cut you a deal. You have the option of putting a price per month for these things if you're a host. Some may offer a discount in that price itself, but maybe not 1 on 1 basis. Here's some within the OP's constraints I found, minus the "downtown" thing. Which in my opinion is better unless you just absolutely want that high rise thing (which you can get in some other areas of town anyway):

High rise:
* Lakeview | https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/734298 --> High rise
* Edgewater | https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1374481 --> High rise, but 0 reviews

Artsier-ish areas:
* Bucktown | https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/994170
* Avondale/Logan Square (artsier neighborhoods) | https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1259579
* Ukrainian Village | https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/818109--> Not as close to train as some others
* Ukrainian Village | https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/107345 --> Not as close to train as some others
* Andersonville | https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1043150

More historical:
* Bronzeville | https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/548905

Thanks!!! I'm still waiting for some confirmation so not sure if I can make this trip!

But a fd of mine is visiting Chicago too.

She's a backpacker and looking for a cheap (but safe!) place to stay. Is this a safe neighbor?
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1148365
West 19th Street, Chicago, IL 60608, United States

And I have two questions regarding Chicago neighbor (never been to here before so still get a bit confused...)
1. Buena Park neighborhood
2. Chicago 60707 near Oak Park

Are they safe areas? Would you recommend these places as temporary stay?

THANKS YOU!!
