Will be traveling to Chicago for 13 weeks on an assignment to the Jesse Brown VA. Not familiar with the area. Suggestions as to most convenient and safe place to live? Will be driving from FL to Chicago but don't plan on commuting to work daily. Thank for the help!

What do you consider affordable? That will give us a starting point. That hospital is in the Medical District, which has hotels there in itself and is safe. Parking is also free at most of these places I believe, unlike downtown, so you can probably just do that if they fit within your budget. Use the trains nearby to get to other parts of the city where parking is a *****.
