I'm posting this question, because someone from Chicago posted a similar thread in NYC asking what we thought of Chicago.

I'm curious as to what Chicagoans think about New Yorkers, specifically from New York City which is comprised of Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.

Your honest feedback is appreciated and respected no matter what it is.

I have quite a few friends from NYC. I like NYers.

I've got nothing against NYC, I love it, but I have seen a lot of NYCers having this elitist point of view of how their city is "above all others in every possible aspect of life". That can get pretty annoying. I'm not saying all Nooo Yawkers do this, just a fair amount who pisses me off.

I like them - sometimes a little brash but nothing that usually puts me off a lot. I find a lot of them to be interesting people. I agree with CCrest about the elitist point of view though. NYC is an awesome city (or can be), but they act like no other city in the entire world does any single thing better than they do, which I think it's BS even though I like NYC a lot. It basically seems as if they have no humility, which comes off sometimes as low self esteem. Sometimes it's completely true when they say NYC is the best at something, but other times it's just annoying as hell. Even if you're the best at something, you don't have to actually say it.

Many carry an "I'm from New York" attitude as though the rest of us are supposed to care. So arrogance.

Positive impressions. Somewhat kindred with Chicagoans.

Back in the late 1990s my Chicago friends really hated New York and New Yorkers and razzed me to no end when I moved to Brooklyn. The boosterism of that era was bit obnoxious.

A lot of New Yorkers have a way of treating any place that isn't New York like it's Mayberry, which tends to rub pretty much everybody the wrong way. I think it might sting a little extra for some Chicagoans.
