Hi all!
I am moving from California to Chicago for a job opportunity and could use some tips on where to live. The company I will be working for had a zip code of 60606.. I believe that is right in downtown Chicago? I am looking a two bedroom apartment in a fun, safe area of the city that isn't too far of a commute from the 60606 zip code. I want to be able to walk out of my building with restaurants/ cafés/ shops/ ect right there. Also, I am fairly young (23) and was wondering where a good place for young professionals to live is? I have looked up The Loop, Gold Coast, Wicker Park but don't really know the difference between them. Thanks for your help!

Look in the West Loop - you'll be able to walk to work and great restaurants and bars. Live there for a year. If you like it, stay. If not, get around to other neighborhoods and see which feel right for you.

I agree with this... I'd add Fulton River District to the discussion. Fulton River District is adjacent to the Loop (work) and River North (nightlife) and would be a great neighborhood to start with. There is easy access to CTA transit and many of the condos/apartments are new(er) and offer excellent river and skyline views.
