My wife and I are planning a visit to Chicago, what are the best places to visit? What are the areas to avoid? Really excited to possibly explore Chicago!

Art Institute of Chicago, Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry. Go to Navy Pier. Check out grant park, millennium park. Ride one of the train lines. Eat at stuffed pizza, eat an italian beef at Al's or Portillo's. Check out the Sky Deck at sears tower. And boom, tourist activities completed!

Just my opinion, I have only lived here for a couple months in a "OK" neighborhood...don't be out at night without some type of defense. Just seems as if there is an upswing of crimes. Be safe.

i'd add the chicago history museum to the list. also, i'd definitely include the architectural tour on the river, but i'm not sure how late into Oct. it runs.
