I heard that around mid-week, we're supposed to get the cold air coming in, and apparently it's going to stay around this time. We held off winter for longer than I expected, but it looks like it will be here for good very soon.

Until today when it felt like Spring again (conveniently right before it gets really cold). Crazy Chicago weather!

I for one, love the change of seasons and look forward to it. Winter coat and boots shopping are fun. That of course changes come Jan/Feb when I'm ready for winter to be over!

The incoming cold air is due to remnants of a typhoon disrupting the jet stream in the Pacific. Hopefully we'll return to seasonal weather once it's gone.

I wouldn't count on it, last I heard we were expecting our first accumulating snowfall event this weekend, specifically Sunday morning. A lot could change in 5 days, (last week they thought the first one would be last night, but it didn't reach far enough south to hit us)

No, he's right, all the meteorologists are saying the typhoon is disturbing the jet stream and pushing arctic air into our region. And it will not last forever. The problem is I heard it's going to last 2 weeks, and "returning to seasonal temps" may be true, but what "seasonal" temps are drops pretty quickly this time of year, so I doubt we'll see 60's again until next march or april, but it should warm up relatively in 2 weeks time.

I saw your post in the other winter thread and I've never really met anyone that preferred winters over summers so maybe you could answer some of my questions?

The colder the weather, the better?

You're probably not a beach person?

I hope so, because this jet stream pattern looks disturbingly similar to the one we had last January... and we were stuck with it for quite a while.
