What is happening out there?

There was one yesterday on the Stevenson, today on the Eisenhower. PLEASE - be careful out there. Slow down, pay attention, get off your cell phone and get a hands-free device, stop texting!!! Drive Safe all!

Something that really surprised me... the number of people killed by Metra trains. I never noticed until I started taking Metra myself and payed closer attention to these incidents, it's almost a weekly thing. Commuters just stepping out on to the tracks without looking both ways.

Aren't the majority of Metra deaths drivers who weren't paying attention?

Nothing new here. This happens year around and every year.

They're usually pedestrians. I think maybe people are thrown off by the fact that the trains usually follow the opposite convention of cars by using the left track. I'm thinking maybe people look left, step out, and get punched from the right by a 400-ton fist.

Alot of people getting hit by the trains are suicides. Another proportion of these are error on the part of people ignoring the gates down and running across the tracks.

Regarding the xpressways, usually they are actually quite safe compared to the number of cars they carry because cars are going in the same direction. There are a few deaths each year in Chicago on them but more on regular streets. The dangerous accident are when people cross over to the other side and cause a head on collision or when someone runs a red light or stop sign. Xpressways do not have these kind of crashes usually.

Cant help but notice the vast amount of people looking down at their cell phones and people texting and reading texts while driving.

I sure wish they would start throwing the law down on this situation
Texting , talking , dialing reading your phone is deadly on the highway.

I could have sworn the other day I saw a driver with his ipad mounted on his dashboard

this is getting way outta control
preaching done today
