It would be a nice gesture for trying.

Maybe, maybe not. At least three other mayoral candidates have chimed in on the issue, with one of them even ponying up the money for their legal expenses.

I'm not sure which is more obnoxious, the initial cheating or all the public figures and talking heads trying to excuse it away and pretend like the title was still deserved. Way to send these kids a horrible mixed message.

The initial disappointment will be strong, but being kids, they'll have something else to look forward to in their young lives. That being said, the sad thing is being exposed to the win-at-all-costs mentality of organized sports, even at their young age..

I don't blame the kids and will never look at them as cheaters or intentionally trying to deceive anyone, there kids for Christ's sake! The adults involved are the true cheaters, and all blame should only be directed their way.

Kinda messed up but it makes me smile to picture Rahm giving them team rings...and then taking them back.

You want to punish and embarrass the kids?

This is exactly how I see it. The reason I came to this board was to see the reaction and I was happy to find that few if any posters were actually excusing the behavior. But clearly those in power are doing just that and if this was my city I'd be embarrassed and upset about it.

Why can't everyone in the city of Chicago man up and admit that the team cheated and the entire thing was a fraud?

I feel bad for the kids as well, but this is what happens when the adults us the kids as their pawn to financial success, fame, etc or whatever they thought could be achieved by stacking a team against the rules.

Seems like these kids do not have too many successes, so their community is fighting to keep what little successes they got, and the community and supporters of the JRW have nothing else to celebrate, and with the crime in the neighborhoods, this is why they are holding this win as so precious.

Maybe the community needs to find more ways to celebrate kids' successes and so if there were more things to celebrate, even if they did lose this one, it would be no big deal. They would have had other things to count on.

so maybe the kids and the team needs to say well ok we did something wrong, now lets go on to finding other successes that we can celebrate.

What the team needs to do is learn from this, say "my bad", dont do it again, and look forward to next year.
Its just a damn trophy. there are other important things in the world - like a career, taking care of family lovingly, etc. etc.
