I dig the vibe of Lawndale and I like the friendly atmosphere of Washington Park, though I can't decide which one I like the best.

Irving Park, Avondale - that whole area. Real close to downtown but has nice, quaint neighborhoods.

I've lived all over the city and I really like the north side of Bucktown, by Armitage and Damen. Lots of character, cool corner pubs and coffee shops, Holstein Park. Close to the blue line, the Metra, I-90, and the 606. Short walk to the craziness of 6 corners, but yet still pretty relaxed.
