There is a spot on the ramp from the Stevenson to southbound LSD that Lake Michigan looks like positively Caribbean -- all you see is the blue / green water tailing off toward to Indiana and there is nothing but water from horizon to horizon.

There are similarly some spectacular views coming up from Lake Shore Drive to the outbound Stevenson where all you see are the highrises from Lake Point Tower to Sears Tower all arrayed before you that is quite stunning.

The views of the Sears Tower and the rest of the Loop / North Michigan Ave highrises is also amazing from the ramps after a Sox night game at US Cellular Field as well as the Orange line as it approaches Roosevelt...

Chicago does have grandeur.

Best views in my opinion (no particular order):
1. Montrose Beach/Montrose Harbor (this view is much more expansive than the popular shot at North Ave. Beach).
2. The Kennedy coming from the NW. In a word, awesome.
3. Adler. You're basically out there on the water with Chicago stretching out in front of you. Firmly believe this is one of the best cityscape views in the world.
4. Promontory Point/Hyde Park. I've been out there when the waves get hectic. Great area for photos.
5. Milton Olive III Park near Navy Pier. Never knew about this park until recently. Right next to the beach with great views of boats and water, looking at the Hancock and near north side.
6. Kinzie St bridge. Spectacular with the sun setting.

The view from the Hawthorne Suites on N Broadway is spectacular.
