For the first time since I moved to Chicago I saw this giant disgusting rat, laying dead on the sidewalk outside our apartments. I have never seen a rat that big before. Ever since I saw this rat I have seen them every once in awhile running across the alley in the evening. Should I tell my landlord or this something they are very well aware of?

Has nothing to do with the landlord unless it's in the building. It's a city problem, report it to your alderman.

Hah, yes, most of them aren't even afraid of people. I've seen live ones on the sidewalk before and had to step to the side of the sidewalk in order to pass them by they are so domesticated.

Do you have a picture of said dead rat? The biggest rat I've ever seen was in biology class. I hate rodents. However, l'm curious about them.

I have seen rats in tropical area double the weight of an average cat. Its size is similar to the cat, but since it's not slender but round, it's estimated to be double the weight of an average cat. Cats would go no where near those things.

This rat might not be very big to some of you but it's the biggest I have seen anyways. And it looks really gross. You know how some rats can be kind of cute but this one was not that.

Why contact the alderman? Why not just call 311, and they send the dead animal troopers to pick up.

I have been living here most of my life, and I have seen rats probably 10 times total. however, I did see one this weekend while driving thru lincoln park. I also saw one about a month ago in west town in front of someone's house.
