Despite failed attempts at searching on the web, I cannot find the code with the specific number of pets allowed in single family homes in Chicago. Does such a thing exist?

Not for me, but I know someone that has over 12 pets in their home and trying to determine legality of such.

Damn, I saw a city of Chicago department of animal police officers some month back.

I asked him if it was legal to own a lynx or bobcat. Said no. Said you need permission from the state, which is hard to get.

Then I asked him what's the next step larger than the housecat that is legal to have, and he said bengal and savannah cat. Well, both of them are hybrid, of half cats and half something larger. ;d

Edit: 1 is half leopard cat, and 1 is half serval. Next time, I'll ask if those are legal.

I basically like cats, but would like something as big as a dog.

Chicago has an intentionally vague description of what constitute unsafe conditions for animals or people -- https://chicagocode.org/7-12-080/

There is a technical requirement for license of dogs, no limit, and nothing about cats -- https://chicagocode.org/7-12-140/

Mmm, Chet here would make a better mod here than PJSinger, especially when you talk about who contributes, and who gives official advice.

Sounds like a hoarder, could be a health hazard. If that's why you're asking, you should report them.
