My apartment faces the apartment building next door, and in the summer (everyone in that building seems to know each other for some reason) I have to deal with some a-hole sitting on his back porch blasting salsa music or crazy old school ballads. It's so annoying and rude, sometimes very early in the morning. I work from home and just leave to go anywhere else because I can't deal with it.

Have you ever successfully shut up a noisy neighbor?

Sadly I have had to deal with noisy ****ty neighbors no matter where I have lived and usually no matter how many times you tell management or have the cops come nothing stops these people. Also annoying are all these losers who drive around blasting their music letting everyone know what losers they are

Maybe the solution is not to move into hispanic neighborhoods where they enjoy listening to their cultural music loudly.

This is rude and I don't live in a hispanic neighborhood, like say, the westside. I live on the northeast side.

Btw I don't think it would be ok to expect neighbors to blast loud music at rude hours just because it's a cultural neighborhood but I suppose I could see the argument. It's also kinda saying "don't live near cultural minorities who may play loud music because all the neighbors won't mind" and that seems kinda like redlining don't you think?

Not just a city thing either. I have several friends in the burbs who complain to me all the time about the hell they put up with as far as noise and people blaring their music and TVs and doing other things. Sadly when you are surrounded by the human animal you have to expect this sort of thing

sorry to state the obvious, but rather than posting about this on a message board have you actually tried instead talking to your neighbors and asking them to turn it down?

Scratching head, trying to figure out where the "northeast side" is...

Get some good earplugs and a good white noise machine, like a fan or something. That's all I can tell you.
