Hi,

I got an internship opportunity for summer in Motorola and am really excited about it. However, I was not given sufficient time in choosing my housing options. As far as I know there is a Metra train from my place to the company but I have to transfer to another train and a bus. I was provided with a housing option there but I wanted to evaluate a feasible option. Could someone kindly guide me as I am quite new to this place and I don't know how Metra or some other option is advantageous...

Thanks

I'm sorry, I don't think I understand the question.

Yeah, we need more details about where your housing options actually are. If they are in the burbs, you may want to try the "Chicago Suburbs" thread.

Looking at the title of your post, I'm assuming that you are hoping to live in Evanston and commute to Schaumburg on the Metra? It sounds like you're saying that you would also have to take a shuttle on the Schaumburg end to get to Motorola?

First off, the Metra doesn't really connect Evanston to Schaumburg. You'd have to go downtown first and transfer, and that really wouldn't work conveniently. If I were you, I'd look for housing along the Metra branch that actually goes out to Schaumburg (see link for map).

Secondly, it's a pain in the butt to drive west from Evanston to the Kennedy Expressway (I-90). You'd be better off living near the Kennedy if you wanted to drive to work.
