Planning a quick solo trip to Chicago this summer so looking for all the basic information which I'm sure has been answered before so sorry in advance! I'm coming from Philly so def a city person, love the neighborhoody feel of Chicago.. I'm 28, probs gna stay 4-5 days, would prefer to airbnb but open to hotels.. I basically just need opinions on where to stay neighborhood wise. I've read plenty about numerous Chicago neighborhoods that all seem great but they're hard to imagine when you're not there. I'd definitely like to be somewhere busy, good amount of nightlife(preferably dive bars), Around young adults, and would love to walk the majority of the week! I'm sure I'm forgetting questions but this is a good start.. thanks!!

Chicago is a fantastic place to go for a summer trip. You should heck out neighborhoods like Wrigleyville, Old Town, virtually anything near Lake Michigan, and also north to Evanston, and Northwestern University. ..

Lots of hotels near O'Hare, near the Blue Line ( which runs 24/7), or all over downtown and Michigan Avenue, too..

Lakeview, Lincoln Park or Old Town if doing Air BnB.

I think there's one or two hotels in Lakeview that are cheaper like a Days Inn or Best Western, and then there's new Hotel Zachary across from Wrigley Field that is probably expensive. There's plenty of hotels in River North too.

I would not suggest at all to stay by O'Hare or Midway if you're the type of person who focused their post on "young adult", "night life", "neighborhoody", or "dive bars".

What other things are you looking to do?

By dive bars, do you mean not the most well kept but crowded with young people?

There's a strip of bars near Clark and Division for that, but I feel like at 28 you might feel old there.

There's also the more true dive bars that meet a lot of these criteria. These typically have really cheap beer, "regulars" and look like they haven't been updated in decades. They're usually not too crowded. https://www.thrillist.com/drink/chic...-signs-staples

If you're interested in doing the museums and other touristy things, I'd stay in River North and just take the train elsewhere for nightlife.

Don't go in summer. Too hot and sticky. October, on the other hand, is perfect.
