Hello All,

We are an Indian family relocating to Chicago with 2 school going kids .My office will be in uptown Chicago. Please recommend good and safe communities to raise kids and good schools . I would prefer where there are Indian Families staying and have direct train or buses connecting Uptown zip code 60640 (Weiss hospital).

Deeply appreciate everyone ‘s help!
Thanks!

Red Line goes straight through Uptown and Lake Shore Drive is right there as well. Actually , Lake Shore Drive goes right in front of Weiss Hospital.

What's your budget? Prefer city or suburbs? Any other criteria? Buying or renting?

The Buena Park area of Uptown is very nice.
Check it out - go to the little park at Buena and Kenmore. Walk around - you will see its nice.

So many families!

Many vintage condos and rentals in the area - can walk to the Lake - good restaurants, etc.

If you can afford $375,00.00 for a 3 bedroom duplex down I may know of one. Parking included.

Plus its a very diverse area.

There are Indians all over the metro area. A lot of young, high earning folks in Coonley CPS attendance area. A lot downtown as well. Of course Devon is filled with Indian/Pakistani retail and restaurants.

Avoid living east of Broadway in between Wilson and Lawrence. Too many hoodrats, mentally ill and homeless.

The rest of Uptown is mostly fine

This!^

Uptown is weird. A small section is pretty shady, but not compared to many other places in Chicago. I work by Douglas Park and on my way home late afternoon afternoon/early evening when it's warmer outside, its nothing like what you see at Uptown.
Uptown is nice. they have some places ^^^like TBideon wrote...
but overall there are nice and very expensive homes. Not cheap and run down like what you see on the south and south west/ west side. A SFH in uptown will run over 600k. You will not see any plywood.
windows in this part of town..lol
It is just a few minutes from the lake...walking and like mentioned...red line and buses is right there.
I walked with my kids many many times to and from Target and you will see all kinds of people of all
" classes ". I would love to be able to afford a single family home in the area.
Uptown is great!

Look in the Coonley school attendance area. I know quite a few Indians that live there and send their kids to Coonley. Probably a 15-20 minute drive to Weiss from that neighborhood.
