Any information on this??

I am really not familiar with this area. Also, would street parking in this area be difficult?

It should be fine. That is a pretty decent area. You may need a residential sticker over there, but if you move there you can get it of course.

The parking is more difficult east of Ashland. As long as you park west of Ashland it should be easy.

Both blocks are in Andersonville. If you can get a place there I would go for it.

Agreed. This is a very nice area, and Rascher is sort of the northern end of Andersonville. It get's a little bit worse to the north, but not too bad. You do need to keep your eyes open in Edgewater.

Yeah once you go a block or so north of Bryn Mawr and the closer you get to Devon it starts to get a bit shady east of Clark. When you go north of Ridge west of Clark it is a bit sketchy also, but by then you are out of Andersonville anyway...(but still in Edgewater the community)

But I would not hesitate buying on Rascher near Clark or Ashland.

Here are some more places to check out:
Similar homes on Trulia

Some on this list are in good locations while others are just so-so.

Parking on the 1600 block of Rascher is a lot easier than on the 1400 block because of the train line that runs along Ravenswood. Since there's an entire street side with no houses, parking is wide-open along Ravenswood which helps to relieve parking pressure between Ashland and Ravenswood. I used to live one street north of there, on the 1600 block of Catalpa. I never had to park more than one block away no matter what time of day/night I came home.

However, on the 1400 block, not only do you not have the benefit of a completely empty street side to ease parking congestion, but you're competing with patrons of the Clark Street business and nightlife district. And that area is not zoned so the shoppers and revelers can park on your street any time of day or night. It's not too bad in the late afternoon/early evening, and in any event it's nothing like the worst parts of Lincoln Park/Lakeview. But if you get home after, say, 8pm, you may have to hunt for a while to get a spot.

My first apartment after getting married in 1982 was at 1422 W. Rascher. A large two bedroom with big DR and a sunporch for $450 a month, which I remember thinking was a lot of money! Those were the days....

Anyway, I drove over there a couple of weeks ago just for old times sake. 1420-22 W. Rascher is now a condo, and I can verify drover's info on street parking as we couldn't find a spot on the entire block, at about 3 PM.

Thank you all! My boyfriend already checked out the Rascher places and they look promising. I'll be in town on Thursday to check out a ton of places. That's good to know about the parking
