My husband and I are wanting to move to Chicago after the military.
We're hoping to find information about neighborhoods and housing, places to see, places to avoid and so on, and schools.

Backround info(if it helps due to affordablility):
we can afford $150,000 to $250,000 a year for a home; we have a large breed dog; and looking for a good school system(public or private) for our son.

that would most likely get you the following:

1. 1 bedroom condo in Lincoln Park
2. Studio in gold coast, streeterville, old town, River north
3. perhaps a 2 bedroom in lakeview, not likely
4. probably a 2 bedroom in lesser neighborhoods

Avoid Gold Coast, its one of the highest priced, if not the highest priced neighborhood in Chicago. Check out Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Albany Park, Rogers Park.

We need more info.... how many bedrooms? How big? Where will you be working? What are you looking for?

I don't know why you would look in any of these neighborhoods with a child in this price range. I also love how all other neighborhoods are "lesser neighborhoods" No, you won't find any decent 2 beds in Lakeview for this price range at all.
