Winter=open freezer door, stick face inside, take piece of paper and fan yourself real hard with it and breathe in while holding onto some ice to pretend you are scrapping your car off.
Summer=go in bathroom and leave fan off, close door, turn shower on hot water only, sit outside of shower on toilet with seat down, sweat, and wait 10 minutes.
Spring= both summer and winter experiences as listed above occuring within 1hour of eachother.
Fall=sit comfortably in living room with a fan blowing a gentle breeze at you.

Sorry not trying to be a smart ***** here, but thats our extremes in a nut shell.
I had to laugh!!! If Chicago's winters are anything like Michigan'...than this description is funny and sad because it is SOOOOO accurate!!!

Nonetheless, as another poster said...NOTHING stops Chicago... Enjoy then weather now, we will be wanting it again in 6 months!

Hang tight. Another beautiful weekend in store. Today is a bit muggy, this weekend the humidity levels are in the 20-30% range in the afternoon. Perfect.

I've legendary stories that may just be apocryphyl and I've seen the Yahoo Neighborhood Profile listing that the average winter low temp is--could it be accurate?!--11 degrees farenheit! True?!

Someone mentioned that it could vary depending on what area of the city one lives in, but average is average.

Also, does anyone know any bass players or drummers looking to form a band out there?

Just checking, thanks much!

Jon.
Jon, I don't know how much help this will be but I use to live in Chicago years ago. I thought that it was terrible then with the cold and the wind. Now I live in the northern North Dakota, seems like Chicago was a piece of cake now. I guess it depends where you are coming from.

Anything below 30 with wind...is pretty freakin cold. Those special days of walking backwards to avoid the wind are the worst ones. Snow? That's nothin'... that is warm. January and February with parts of December, are bone chilling cold much of the time. NYC, Mid-Atlantic, etc...cannot compare at all.

You must cover head, hands, and feet very well, ...there will always be a 5-7 day stretch some time where people question if it is possible to get that cold. It becomes laughter.

The wind is the killer. Temps in 30's with no wind, is nothin'......temps in 20's or worse with even a little bit of wind or more...C-O-L-D....COLD.

And as others have said, the short, dark, gray days just add to it.

I believe the reason for all of the fuss besides the above, is Spring....people wait and wiat every year for Spring for an eternity. Sure some years are better than others....but on average....April Cubs games for example, are often dark, windy, cold. ....The lack of a good Spring is killer after the gut check month of February.
