I'm graduating from college this spring and will be relocating to Chicago in late August. I've been doing a lot of research, but I'm having a hard time grasping which apartment building(s) would be the best for me. I'm pretty active socially so I don't mind living near noise.

I would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

Just about anywhere in Lincoln Park will be fine. It's up to you to view the apartment's yourself to make that decision. I'm not sure what advice anyone can offer from afar at this point.

Are you sure you want to move to LP? I heard the Chad's cologne overspray can be fatal if inhaled improperly.

LP is nice and everything, but you and about a million other 20-somethings try to move there every summer. You will pay a big rent check every month just for the location, even if the apt sucks. Lakeview, Bucktown, Wicker Park, Roscoe Village, and Logan Square are all decent areas with a very active social/bar scene. Also these areas are just a short train ride from LP.

I made the mistake of playing too much rent for a crappy apt when I first moved here because I thought Lincoln Park was the only place to be.

If you want to stay in the "younger" parts of Lincoln Park, focus your efforts on the corridor between Halsted and Racine, and north of Armitage. The areas on the fringes of Lincoln Park tend to be a little more young-family-oriented, plus some good ol' fashioned "old money" mixed in east and south. As for what specific apartment building will work for you... there are so many apartment buildings in Lincoln Park that there's no good way to answer your question.

I live at Fullerton and Arlington. I'm 28 and I really like this neighborhood. Lots of good places to eat. The bar scene on lincoln, clark or halsted is sort of the loud sports bar type. Personally if I wanted to go to a bar that plays good music then I would drive to Wicker Park. But I just moved hear last August so I'm not to experienced with the night life yet. I more so care about being close to the park, conservatory, zoo and lake. I love riding my bike on the lake at sunset. Plus it's an easy walk to either the train or an array of buses.

Good luck!
