A friend and I are visiting Chicago on Halloween for a few days. Just want a recommendation for what part of town (intersection) we should try to stay close to if we are wanting a good impression of Chicago's nightlife. Only gonna be there 2 nights, so obviously we cant see it all. But for those of you who live there, if you had to recommend somewhere to go to someone thinking about moving to Chicago, what would it be?

Thanks!

It depends upon the type of nightlife you are seeking. You will find a number of typical straight pickup bars/clubs around Division and Rush and a lot of gay bars around Halsted and Roscoe. There are many other areas with cool nightlife.

Most tourists stay at the big hotels on and around North Michigan Avenue (if you want a cross street for mapquest use Ohio). You can walk from this area to Division and Rush and it is all very nice, safe, large dept stores, restaurants, etc.

However, there is also the possibility you might enjoy staying in an actual neighborhood where local folks live. A lot of 20 and 30 y.o's live around Diversey and Clark. That is at the border between the Lincoln Park and Lakeview neighborhoods. There is a Days Inn on Diversey Parkway and from this location you can walk to the bars and restaurants around Clark and Addision (by Wrigley Field). Best Western in the 3400 N Broadway block is also in this area.

Good luck and let us know if you have more questions

I would go with North Ave/Milwaukee/Damen, Belmont and Clark, Foster and Clark, Division and Wood...

Cool, I appreciate the info. Let me also add, I'm not into waiting in line all night to get into a club. we wanna go somewhere popular, but somewhere we'd frequent if we actually lived there. oh and we are both guys in our mid 20s if that helps. also, I see ALOT of things going on for Halloween. any recommendations for a specific place to go sat night in a costume that isn't a dance club? and last thing...Sunday we are planning on tailgating for the game and then watching it at a bar nearby, any recommendations for a good sports bar near soldier? thanks again!

Do you intend to tailgate at the actual parking lot at the stadium? Because the bottom line is, you can't.

If you're staying in a hotel downtown, another decent bar strip there is on Hubbard Street, between State and Clark. I personally like this area a lot better than Division Street.
A lot of the downtown night / dance clubs are near and around the Ohio & Franklin intersection.....but I wouldn't necessarily recommend a lot of those places unless you're really into the club scene.

Okay. The reality is sports bars are all basically the same.

These are sports bars. They have multiple tvs, standard bar fare, buckhunter. The sound will be on to the Bears game. They are close to Soldier field.

Thus, the recommendation.
