Have pretty much narrowed it down to these areas for a new apartment... Is 800 doable for a decent place there if you look for awhile? I can afford more but would like to get an 800... I have seen a few and some 750's as well. Looking for a place close to the L after the summer.

I think you can find that at that price no problem.

Yeah that is what I am thinking too, the prices seem to have came down a bit since 2008 no? I am seeing cheaper rents for a bit nicer places... that is last time I was renting in Chicago. I'm not a huge fan of the hood in comparison to others, I like several, but seems pretty cool from what I remember with good north/south access off the brown/red. More chilled out than LP. I'll be needing to go into Evanston/Rogers Park and into the Loop often and it is pretty good location for that I thought. My gf will also be new to Chicago and figure it will be a good stomping ground for her to get started and find her way about the city.

Yup, that sounds reasonable. I think there might be a larger selection of studios closer to the lake though. Not sure why you would be looking off the Brown line if you have to go to Evanston/Rogers Park. Are you looking for a neighborhood with reasonable parking?

No we aren't bringing a car. I would only consider the 1st 2 brown line stops past clark/belmont.
