My sister and I are planning to go out on Saturday and we are hoping to meet some decent guys (for her, I'm married). We define decent as over 25, under 40, well employed, and socially competent. All we're looking for are people who bring the same things we do to the table. I'm not super well versed with bars, so I have no idea what kind of bar would attract people like this. Or, maybe there's someplace other than a bar that we should go.

We're not looking for a husband or boyfriend overnight, but we are hoping to talk to some interesting new people and have fun. I'm just the wingman (woman) but I like talking to new people too, even though I am not looking for a romantic connection at all.

If you guys are hot you shouldn't have a problem meeting "quality" men wherever you go...assuming you can make a good character judgment pretty quickly.

Well, my sister is hot, at least by most standards. We never have trouble meeting people when we go out, the problem is just that usually the guys we meet are not that great... much younger, unemployed, in school, etc. All I want for my sister is to meet someone nice who is truly an adult. I guess my real question is where do men ranging in age from late 20s to mid 30s hang out? It seems like we meet guys that are just too young (24 or under). I'm 28 and she's 26 so we want someone older than 25.

It isn't about money at all, it's about someone having a job that is a real career, which is what we both have. If it is wrong to want someone that's on the same page career-wise and emotionally, then I guess we're wrong. That's just what I want for my sister.

So if you find upscale bars you can find your sister a barfly with dough?

Hang out in older neighborhoods, like Lincoln Square or Andersonville. You're not going to find real adults at Kincaid's in Lincoln Park.

I don't think anyone's made it clear yet, but you don't want to go to Roscoe's and Sidetrack on Halsted to meet men unless you are a man. Just making sure you don't make that mistake.

I was going to recommend University of Chicago's Medical school library or cafeteria, but it's mostly students and under 26. You just need to find out where attending physicians hang out at and you'll be half way there.
