We can't all follow New York's example and push all the poor black people in Chicago out of the city.

The problem elsewhere in the country didn't really go away, O'Reilly. It just was buried or otherwise shipped out of sight. Or should NYC's fabulous dropout rate be indicative of somehow ending the cycle of poverty?

The last time we had a discussion like this, somebody pointed out it's pretty ridiculous to compare the city's ghettoes to a third world country. The ghetto dwellers are down at the bottom of the U.S. living standard spectrum, and maybe worse than dollars and cents is how little they are able to engage the society or have opportunities to move up the ladder. But even they have their basic needs mostly taken care of in a way that does not happen in third world countries.

This is a pretty ignorant statement. O'Reilly says he's "been to Haiti" a couple times so I guess that is supposed to lend some weight to it. I think of all the dumb things said on this board about Chicago by people who explain that they have visited Chicago.

Not a surprise coming from Bill-O. I can't believe he still has a show.

One black entertainer agreed with him. The entertainer comes from the ghetto so he should know. O'Reilly was making the point that nothing seems to change or have the ability to change there. Both places are in dire straits. Nothing rasict about facts when they are true.

Who cares if one Black agrees with him, even if they are from the ghetto? They haven't lived in Haiti so they have no idea

O'Reilly has a fund for sending help to Haiti and has had it for years before the quake. I am sure he has been to Haiti and the south side of Chicage. I will trust him before someone who has not been there or seen anything else to make a comparison. If he wants to help let him, let anyone help who wants to help. Geesh.
