I am looking for a job right now and considering Holy Cross Hospital (2700 West 68th). One thing that is stopping me is the neighborhood. My friend (who just got a job there) said the area is a little scary. I don't have a car right now so I would be on public transportation. My mom said it shouldn't be so bad during the day but there are many parts of the city I wouldn't want to walk through during the day. Anyone know anything about this neighborhood? Thanks!

Yeah, I am half Lithuanian and went to Maria High School back in the day.
Don't move around there. Really, don't. It doesn't have much going for it. Move further down 63rd Street around the airport, safer neighborhood.

Have you considered Christ (Advocate) Hospital? It probably has better salary and benefits.

I familiar with the area. I took public transportation from the area and around the area when I was teenager. It would be a little scary if you not accustom to the surroundings or Englewood for that matter. I never ran into an incident during those times. When I drive through there now the area seems a bit like a ghost town. I have a cousin a few blocks from the hospitals. Keep to yourself and you should be ok. I dont see no real threat of you using the public transportation.

Sorry, I should read every word.
Taking public transport during the day should be ok.
If you have to work nights, I would say no.

Thanks for the info! I may drive around there to get a feel for the neighborhood first. My husband has to use his car for work so I will have to take public until we can save up to buy another car.

This is not a safe neighborhood sorry to say. Over the years that particular area has declined so much. There are drug dealers every, police cameras watching folk every move from the poles. I would suggest Christ hospital or advocatehealthcare.com to find jobs within there systems.

Using public transportation to get to and from the area would be unsafe. There is gang and drug activity in the neighborhoods that surround the hospital. I would say look to Little Company of Mary or Christ Hospitals if you need to get to work via public transportation.

I went to school around there in 1980's. I remember it was a very quiet neighborhood. What happened?
