Agreed, I remember going to a British pub in North Austin - it was basically the last Chicago neighborhood to experience intense white flight.

I know what Chicago style pizza is supposed to be. What is NY Style pizza that Tom talks about?

Ashburn and Chicago Lawn have experienced some pretty intense white flight in the last 15 years.

It's thin crust but not as crisp, you can fold it (it's cut in pie wedges not squares). The bread is yeastier, "breadier" I guess, more flavor. The cheese and other toppings are used less lavishly; more about the bread and sauce than the toppings.

The place I'm talking about is Jimmy's at Lincoln and Foster. My wife is from Philly and very familiar with Philly-Jersey-New York pizza and loves the place. She also says the cheesesteaks and hoagies from Philly's Best on Belmont are the real deal.

Yeah, I thought it was mediocre, very bland. Like Marie's but not as greasy.

West Lawn, Archer Heights and West Elsdon as well. In 1990 these three community areas were close to 90% White by 2010 they were 80%, 76% and 79% Latino respectively. It appears Clearing and Garfield Ridge are following suit except near Harlem. Orland, Tinley and Palos is where the vast majority of White Southwest Siders seem to end up. Can the city workers keep the Western edge near Harlem stable or do they move to Mount Greenwood, Edison Park, Norwood Park or Oriole Park? Edgebrook, Sauganash or Beverly might be out of their price range.
