Are there any roller skating rinks in Chicago? They have to play music you can skate to. Like old school 70s funk music, heavy bass, anything to move to. Any ideas?

This location which is the former Rainbow roller rink has been closed for several years and the building it was housed in has been torn down.

This website is an absolute gem and that's all due to the people. Chicago is certainly more exciting than OH, but many times its a pain trying to find some of the same things from home. Thank you everyone.

Nah they did not tear the building down. It was a Coconuts and something else for a while. I think it is some bridal store now...
However the buliding and the Norridge theater are going to be torn done this year.

Maurice Lenell on Harlem just closed though a few days ago.

Roller rinks closing make me so sad.

I was a competitive skater for years, and every rink I skated at in Chicago (within city limits) is gone. A few in the suburbs are gone too, and I have yet to look outside of the state. There's still quite a few in the suburbs which probably/hopefully won't be leaving for a while, as they have fairly large and very active artistic skating clubs (many have jam teams and hockey too and regularly host games/competitions.) Off the top of my head --- Lynwood, Lombard, Coachlite, Aurora, Orbit, USA Skate Center (formerly Mainstreet), Fleetwood.

OH NO!!! How will it be possible to drive down Harlem and not have that delicious smell???

Bad enough that they killed the Hub...spent many, many hours there in my youth.

The west side of Harlem north of the HIP is going to change big time in the next few years. I hear they are going to build a Costco and some other things.
