Read it again.......Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him( Jesus). Luke 15:1

You read many posts and i mean many posts on this forum that do the opposite to what Luke 15:1 says. Many too on this forum believe when Jesus said things like "you are the light of the world" that he was speaking to believers, i challenge any of you of that belief to prove it. I have no doubt that he was saying it to all and anyone who had an ear to hear it, didn't matter if you are a publican, tax collector, prostitute, or homosexual you are the light of the world a city that cannot be hidden. This is the message that changed lives.

It's the Religious who honor him with their lips, but their heart is far from him.

Just because they went to hear what He had to say does not mean they followed Him. Only those who keep the words of God, who do the will of God and the works of God as Jesus did are true believers.

"Genuine worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth"

It is written in the prophets;

"Didn't your father eat and drink. He did what is right and just and it went well with him because he dispensed justice to the weak and the poor it went well with him. Isn't this true knowledge of me?", says the Lord

Do you not get it, that those who think highly in a wrong way about themselves were actually the ones murmuring and complaining about sinners flocking to hear him and him going into their homes dining with them ?. Genuine worshippers are those who actually accepted the Christ(the new wine skin) and rejected the beliefs(the old wine skin) of the religious minded man.

Well let's just see whom Jesus was addressing when He said this:

1And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: 2And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying

(Notice he is addressing his disciples and not the multitudes here)

The 'light of the world' are those who follow Christ, not those who follow themselves.

Would that be going in circles?

Do you have a scripture for that ?

The prodigal was always a son, his brother had the Father always with him and that was the Father's, he just didn't know it. We are the light of tbe world, we just don't know it, believing yourself and others are no good deprived hell deserving sinners it is impossible to believe that you or another could possibly be the light of the world.

Genuine worshippers are those who actually accepted the Christ(the new wine skin), the Christ who revealed who God is and their relationship to God, while at the same time rejecting the beliefs(the old wine skin) of the religious minded man( an absolute necessity for the new wine to flow)

Perhaps you do not get it. --- Genuine 'Spirit and Truth worshipers' are those who actually love sinners enough to "GO" and carry the love and Gospel of Christ to them. Jesus taught "Love your neighbor", not 'love yourself.' Many years in prison, mission, halfway house, etc. ministry - showed me that a lot more folks idealistically debate (or blog) about high-minded ideals, than actually "GO" to the sinners they profess to love (the sinners who never 'flock to church to hear about Jesus.')

The people Jesus was talking about when He said, "You honor me with your lips, but, your hearts are far from me," included those with empty religious beliefs, but, more, those who talked about loving God and their neighbor, but, did not personally introduce them to Christ or God's truth and love. One can accept/ reject all the beliefs and philosophies they wish, and work on their 'self-esteem' until the 'cows come home', but, one's faith is ultimately defined by the works it produces, not the words.

This is not necessarily directed at you (I don't know you). It is directed to those to whom it applies: Those who 'talk/blog a good game', but, sit around humming 'Jesus loves me', when it comes to actually "Sharing the love and Gospel" of Christ with a 'lost and dying world'.
