Pope's organs are too holy to donate to mortals, says Church - Europe, World - The Independent

Honestly, unless they were donated to science, how much mileage would really be left on them?

"Benedict XVI has tried to scotch rumours that he carries an organ donor card after his secretary revealed that his ascension to the position of Holy Father means he is no longer able to bequeath his body parts to lesser mortals."

Mat. 23:9"Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven."

I wonder what changes happened to him during his transition from a lesser mortal to a supposedly greater one?

I suspect it's just the opposite.

He was probably an organ donor for many years. Not being a doctor, my dumb opinion is that even if he could still donate his age and health would be a huge factor. I was a donor for years, but as I am now really old I'm no longer a donor. I just hope I live to to finish wearing everything out.

I commend the Pope for once being an organ donor and am glad he supports organ donation. I see no reason for any condemnation of his act. Everyone has the right to choose or not to be a donor. The reason for their choice is their business and oft times their religion has a bearing on it.

Organs are harvested from those living, not yet dead.

They are brain dead, so they are not really alive. It just appears they are because the machines keep their hearts and lungs working until the organs can be harvested.
