Is believing that the heavens and the sky's reveal knowledge as well as the bible, going beyond what is written ?
Of course it is. In fact, I can't tell you how many times I've heard a fundy xian say that because the glory and beauty of nature reveals the glory of God, that those who have never heard or seen a bible or it's message are "without excuse" i.e. will burn in hell forever. They teach that those God foreknows, he will make sure they get a certain portion of scripture told to them to believe on which is what will save them from hell (never mind the love of God being the thing that saves). Amazing how certain people bend over backwards to preach condemnation to the world and even while doing so believe they are walking in newness of life. Sheesh!

Jump over to Twin's latest thread and try and figure the complex view how the few find the narrow gate, but God gets the credit.

A sarcastic person has a superiority complex that can be cured only by the honesty of humility. ~Lawrence G. Lovasik

The ultimate honesty of humility.... JESUS CHRIST !!!
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matt.11:29)
How does one find that rest......
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." (John 3:36)
So, therefore......

all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:5-7)
Amen !!

Praise God!!

This reminds me of the old debate about "the letter that kills" vs. "the Spirit that gives Life!"

As we walking in the Spirit today??
The pharisees knew their bibles well... and they killed Jesus!

Blessings,
brian

The point which some do not seem to grasp is that the two are not mutually exclusive. On the contrary, people who walk in the spirit are also passionate about the Bible. The two go hand in hand. Do you not read the Bible yourself? I have seen you quote it, so I assume you read it. Why is it ok for some to read it and quote it, while others are mocked for doing the same? See the problem?

It is true the Bible will support what is truly of the Spirit.
I think it's a question of "horse" and "cart." We can live without the Bible. We can't live without the Spirit.

Blessings Finn!

No, it isn't about horse and cart, since no one is downplaying the Spirit, or elevating one above the other.

You are not answering the question: Why is it ok for some to read it and quote the Bible, while others are mocked for doing the same? It is the same as saying that some are more qualified to read the Bible that others, and that is horribly arrogant, and such attitude is certainly not of the Spirit. I can assure you of that.

The pharisees didn't kill Jesus because they read the Bible, they killed Him because they felt threatened by Him.

It was your's, everyone's, the whole world's sin is to why Christ was crucified (killed) on the cross, dying such a dreadful death, shedding His blood, the ultimate sacrifice to Atone a world darkened with the stain of sin upon each and everyone's heart, lives,..... not just, "The pharisees knew their bibles well... and they killed Jesus!"

One who walks in the Spirit knows this truth..... and is forgiven, born again in Christ Jesus..... so are we walking in the TRUTH the SPIRIT OF GOD today ???
