Who killed Saul - Himself or God? There are many other illustrations such as this, but here is just one.
God says Saul killed himself.
1 Chronicles 10:
4Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run me through, or these uncircumcised fellows will come and abuse me.”
But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it.5When the armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell on his sword and died.
God says He killed Saul.
13Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord; he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance, 14and did not inquire of the Lord. So the Lord put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.

And if you believe this is a true story...I have some swamp land to sell you in Florida...you can have it real cheap.
It could be both, God has often showed me and pressed upon me where I am flawed and was brought to point where there was only one thing to do. As a result I have fell on my own sword killing that flaw based upon what God showed me.

That is what the passage says to my life.
Very nice Phaze...these are allegorical and metaphorical stories meant to inspire people to find the spiritual meanings in them...not something to be taken literally.

Both statements are true. God handed Saul over to his own negative volition and disobedience which resulted in Saul finding himself in a situation which caused him to finally take his own life. God allowed Saul's own negative volition and disobedience to play out, which resulted in Saul taking his own life under the principle of the sin unto death which is maximum divine discipline administered by God to the disobedient believer. Saul reaped what he had sown. God used Saul's own decisions against him to administer maximum punishment to him.
And by the way, Saul did not lose his salvation. When God allowed Samuel to come up in a vision, Samuel told Saul that the next day, he would be with him. Samuel was in Abraham's bosom/Paradise in Sheol/Hades. Today, Saul is in heaven.

Saul killed himself. Jealousy, fits of rage...hatred...
