Meditating on this scripture saved my life....do you have a favorite?

Matthew 7:3-5 New Living Translation (NLT)
3 “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? 4 How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

All of Ecclesiastes. I can't tell you how many times I've traced my own life path and outlook through Solomon.

What drew you to Solomon?

Desire for wisdom, feeling like everything was meaningless and noticing that everything continued to repeat itself in life over and over. I was searching for meaning in life, couldn't find it and did a lot of things trying to find it.

Yes Ephesians 2: 5-6......`has quickened us together with Christ, and has raised us up together , and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus ``...... See Believers should not get into any spiritual pride or they could be standing with out Christ , as Lord Jesus is seated together with His Children ...Jesus will let believer stand in pride as the rest of believers would be seated in Christ in humility , but it can be a position where grace can be compromised , and dangerous in the spirit if the pride is not understood the bounds for the believer ...

1 Thess. 4

13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Hey blue, I just saw your title under this post. I've always been fairly familiar with the Bible and I started reading it seriously when I was 12 because I was scared of what I read in revelations and took it all literally. Yes, fear was my first introduction to serious Biblical reading. And I prayed that night, gave myself to God, and asked Him to guide me on the right path.

WELL, that was the beginning of quite the journey for me because after that I lost interest in my daily life and began to wonder who I really was. In reading (started with Genesis), I remember my mom telling me about Solomon and wisdom and I remember her telling me that when in the womb she had prayed and asked God to grant her child wisdom and that was the beginning of my interest in him. The passage that drew me in was, "The words of the Teacher,[a] son of David, king in Jerusalem:

2 “Meaningless! Meaningless!”
says the Teacher.
“Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless.”
3 What do people gain from all their labors
at which they toil under the sun?
4 Generations come and generations go,
but the earth remains forever."- Ecclesiastes 1: 6

Romans 16:17 Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause dissensions and obstacles contrary to the doctrine you have learned. Avoid them, 18 for such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites. They deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting with smooth talk and flattering words.

This tells me that those on this board and elsewhere who teach contrary to the doctrine I have learned are not of Jesus Christ.
