Here is a list of different Protestant Denominations, founders and the year they were founded.
If you are a Baptist, you owe the tenets of your religion to John Smyth, who launched it in Amsterdam, in 1606.
Dr. Ypeij, Professor of Theology in the University of Groningen and Rev. J.J. Dermot, Chaplain to the King:
"We have now seen that the Baptists, who were formerly called Anabaptists, and in later times, Mennonites, were the original Waldenses, and who, long in the history of the church, received the honor of that origin. On this account the Baptists may be considered as the only Christian community which has stood since the apostles, and, as a Christian society, has preserved pure the doctrine of the gospel through all ages. The perfectly correct, external and internal economy of the Baptist denomination tends to confirm the truth disputed by the Romish Church, that the Reformation, brought about in the sixteenth century, was in the highest degree necessary; and, at the same time, goes to refute the erroneous notion of the Catholics, that their communion is the most ancient." (My Church by J.B. Moody, pp. 311)
John Clark Ridpath, historian:
"I should not readily admit that there was a Baptist church as far back as 100 A.D., although without doubt there were Baptist churches then, as all Christians were then Baptists."
Sir Isaac Newton:
"The Baptists are the only body of known Christians that have never symbolized with Rome."
Martin Luther, 1522:
"The Anabaptists have been, for a long time spreading in Germany"
Huldrych Zwingli 1500's:
"The institution of Anabaptism is no novelty, but for three hundred years has caused great disturbance in the church, and has acquired such strength that the attempt in this age to contend with it appears futile for a time."
Cardinal Hosius, a member of the Council of Trent, A. D. 1560:
If the truth of religion were to be judged by the readiness and boldness of which a man of any sect shows in suffering, then the opinion and persuasion of no sect can be truer and surer than that of the Anabaptist since there have been none for these twelve hundred years past, that have been more generally punished or that have more cheerfully and steadfastly undergone, and even offered themselves to the most cruel sorts of punishment than these people.
The Anabaptists are a pernicious sect of which kind the Waldensian brethren seem to have been although some of them lately, as they testify in their apology, declare that they will no longer re-baptize, as was their former custom; nevertheless, it is certain that many of them retain their custom, and have united with the Anabaptists (Hosius, Works of the Heresatics of our Times, Bk. I. 431. Ed. 1584).

The first Baptist church(assembly) is where Jesus went to be baptized.
I apologize for appearing a little brazen here. I'm too exhausted to go back & change it. God Bless.[/font]
And the point here is that the whole concept of the thread is a brazen attempt to assert authority for a spiritually bankrupt organization of men (note that I am not talking about the membership, but the organization).
My answers were a bit tongue in cheek and reflected the same "brassy" thinking that the OP did. My feeling is that if you come on like the subject of a proctological examination you should be treated like one.
By the way, I amn NOT "anti-Catholic" I am anti-exclusionist. I am against ALL those who seem to have no idea what it means to follow Christ rather than an organization or doctrines of men.
