Most Christians do NOT believe that Scriptures like the following apply to them. But, they do! … Notice these passages specifically apply to believers …
“He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death (eternal death).” (Rev 21:7-8)
“Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.” (Rev 2:10-11).
James 1:12-15 says receiving the crown of life (due to the forsaking of sin) is the opposite of receiving eternal death.
There are several lists of sins, which Christians must NOT be committing habitually! Note: If a Christian is sincerely confessing and repenting of his sins (1 John 1:7-2:1), his sins are being washed away, and he is NOT classified as a habitual sinner. So, perhaps sincere repentance is of utmost importance to being an overcomer.
WARNING … Anyone who is a habitual (unrepentant) sinner: • will NOT inherit the kingdom of God …1 Cor 6:9-10, Gal 5:19-21, Eph 5:3-6 • will NOT enter the New Jerusalem … Rev 21:27, Rev 22:14-15 • will NOT avoid the wrath of God … Col 3:5-6 • will NOT avoid the lake of fire … Rev 21:7-8 • will NOT avoid death …Rom 1:29-32 These are LISTS of sins (examples) which must be overcome!
Let us review what Jesus means about being an overcomer “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Rev 3:21) Jesus overcame fleshly temptations, sin, and the Devil.
Did Jesus overcome more than these things? How about overcoming cowardice when faced with strong persecution and death?
As for us, notice the first item in the Rev 21:7-8 list above … “cowardly”.
Another obstacle believers must overcome is cowardice when faced with: 1) heavy-duty persecution re: their faith (even leading to physical death) 2) heavy-duty pressure to take the mark of the beast (leading to eternal death)
Let us not be cowards and run from these things! Let the Lord decide what His will is for us. Will He supernaturally protect us, or will He have us be martyrs?
IMO, this depends on the strength of our belief-faith-trust, and our spiritual walk (and holiness) re: overcoming sin.
Rev 21:7-8 warns that cowardice must be overcome to avoid loss of eternal life!
The “sons of God” have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them. They are being led by God’s Spirit (Rom 8:14), and they are to follow His peace when making decisions about everything!

Like Peter who denied Jesus three times before the rooster crowed as to face persecution and death better to lie to these people who were identifying him to Jesus who was to be condemned .............And then Jesus forgave him and made him an Apostle of Christ ..................Or resist the mark of the beast where the popular idea is to condemn those poor people and disabled and those religious people to be condemned because they are useless to the general population because they are holding back the economies of the nation , as the antichrist is the general population of sinners , like the Jews in Germany during ww2, who many had the mark of the beast ..................Or the Christian who can`t tell their sinner friend that they knew for years that they cannot go drinking tonight as they are a Christian and this deed will blaspheme Holy Spirit ..............There are many examples of persecution which even Christians in this society can experience , but repentance is needed and Jesus knows where people heart is
Yes, and that's the problem!
Jesus knows if their faith is strong enough to endure to the end.
And their actions prove it.
So then, later at the judgement, everyone will know where everybody's hearts were!

that's right. our Lord forgave. and that put confident back in Peter. there are many things in life that must be overcome. Peter did overcome, he only need a little help. that's why we have the comforter, the helper. and each other. just a pat on the back means a lot.
Good post.
May God bless.

They believe their own revelations are superior to Scripture.

Please note: this color is brown/maroon, not red.
Christ Himself said "the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak".
When Peter denied Christ, was he headed for hell or did grace cover him?
Sometimes our actions do not line up with our beliefs. When that happens, we're acting out of character rather than in character. We still sin after we're saved, we just don't enjoy it anymore.

I notice the majority of your above quotes are from the Circumcision writings. The apostle Paul, the apostle of the nations and Uncircumcision would never tell the nations they MUST do those things you quote above to have eternal life.
Also, 1 Timothy 2:4-6 and 4:10 are true and faithful.

Art thou referring to the warning lists in Rom, Cor, Gal, Eph, Col, and Rev in the OP?
Musta bin a lotta Jews sittin' in churches everywhere back then.

And every example is an example of a lack of faith, but do they weep like Peter or say it is OK, I am saved and will be forgiven. You are right it is cowardice and a sure sign of a lack of faith, thus not saved and a repudiation of their Lord and savior.
The ones who give up do not love either God, His Son, their brother (for whom they set a terrible example) or their neighbor (who sees worship of God as hypocritical and of no value).
No one HAS to compromise.
