Why didn't the Christ tell the Apostles not to worry and that He was going to rapture them? Let's see what they asked:

Mat 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

They asked Him point-blank what would be the sign of His coming and of the end of the world.

Christ responded:

Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Mat 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Mat 24:12 just above speaks of the APOSTASY spoken of by Paul:

2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Not only do we see the apostasy but we also see that the son of perdition will be revealed.

Now back to Matthew 24 where the Christ is responding to His beloved inner circle:

Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand

Christ is saying "when Ye see" the son of perdition. The Tribulation is already underway here.

Continuing:

Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Mat 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Mat 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
Mat 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Indeed the Great Tribulation is underway in Mat: 24:21 above.

Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

The son of perdition has waged war upon the church and is slaying them.

Mat 24:23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Mat 24:25 Behold, I have told you before.
Mat 24:26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

Not once has the Christ told the Apostles not to worry that he would rapture them out of this time of trouble.

Mat 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Matthew 24:29 is clear that Christ only comes AFTER the Tribulation - not before.

Mat 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
Mat 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
Mat 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Mat 24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Mat 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Mat 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Mat 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Notice Matthew 24:44. Watch and be ready. The church must be on watch AFTER the Tribulation for the appearance of our Lord.

Mat 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Mat 24:46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Mat 24:47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
Mat 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
Mat 24:49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
Mat 24:50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
Mat 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The Pre-Tribulation rapture doctrine is a false and deadly doctrine. Do not accept any part of it. If the Christ saved not his most beloved Apostles, why on earth do you think he will snatch you away from trial?

Maybe Christ just answered their question.

He gave them what they could handle. The Holy Spirit filled them in at the proper time.

The Pre-Tribulation rapture doctrine is a false and deadly doctrine. Do not accept any part of it. If the Christ saved not his most beloved Apostles, why on earth do you think he will snatch you away from trial?
Rapture doctrine is the teaching of the anti Christ. God created man on earth and the devil scuttled it. In trying to restore man, he sent his only beloved son to die for our sins. After dieing for our sins he must come back to reign on the earth. He shed the blood on the earth. The earth is where God has issues. The kingdom of God must be established on earth. It is already in heaven. The rapture doctrine, which most Christians revel in reminds me of the days of Christ where he was not seen by the 'Christian" (if you like Pharisees) of those days as the Christ because they felt Elijah had not yet descended and they knew his parents. The same way the Jews are looking up to the sky is the way Christians are looking up to the sky, it is very pitiable.

The man never told any follower that he will save them from tribulation. Matter of fact he assured them that they will suffer tribulation. The only thing he promised them was everlasting life in the regeneration or reincarnation. The Bible records that in his second advent he will be born. Rev 12:5, Isa 9:6

The Pre-Tribulation rapture doctrine is a false and deadly doctrine. Do not accept any part of it. If the Christ saved not his most beloved Apostles, why on earth do you think he will snatch you away from trial?
Jesus did tell them of the rapture. He didn't use that terminology of course, but Jesus told them this.
John 14:1 "Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2] In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3] "If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
This IS a passage referring to the fact that the church will be taken to the Father's house which in this context is plainly a reference to heaven and not to the future Millennial kingdom as some try to make it to be.

F. F. Bruce writes the following on John 14:1-3.
The noun moné (allied to menō, 'stay', 'remain') occurs twice in the NT - here and in verse 23. It means 'a place to stay', and when it is said that there are many such places in a house, 'rooms' is the most natural rendering.
The Father's house has been mentioned by Jesus already in another sense: in John 2:16 'my Father's house' (oikos) is the Jerusalem temple. Here, however, 'my Father's house' (oikia) is plainly not on earth: it is the heavenly home to which Jesus is going and in which his people are also promised a place. Earlier during that week Jesus had said, 'where I am, there my servant will also be' (John 12:26); now he adds to that promise by saying that he will take his followers there personally.
[F. F. Bruce, 'The Gospel of John', p. 297]
No, the pre-Tribulation doctrine is not false and deadly. It is a Biblically taught reality.

No, the rapture of the church is not an anti-Christ teaching. It is a Biblically taught reality plainly taught in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, as well as in John 14:2-3 as shown in post #4.

Because at that point the "mystery" was still not reveled. That did not occur until the calling of the Apostle Paul. At that time the "Kingdom" was being offered to the Hebrews and had they accepted their Messiah would have come but due to their rejection the present dispensation was set in place putting them aside for a time.

Mat 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
Mat 24:49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

First the answer is simple.

(John 16:12) 12 “I have many things yet to say to YOU, but YOU are not able to bear them at present.

The idea of being caught away and changed is Biblical, the way it is taught, clothes left behind.etc. is just stupid and based on man's faulty reasoning.

Rapture as a change and rapture as a special event right before the GT, are not the same thing. One has been twisted into the other .

Jesus gave the revelation to John from Revelations 20: 4, 6...............``I saw thrones , and they sat on them , and judgment was given to them , and I saw the soul of them that were beheaded for a witness for the Word of God , and which had not worshiped the beast , neither his image , neither had received his mark in their hands , and lived and reigned with Christ thousand years ...Blessed and holy is he that has part of the first resurrection on such the second death has No power, but they will be priest of God and of Christ and will reign with him a thousand years ``........... See these are the people who were raptured and took part of the first resurrection

The rapture is a myth. Jesus was very clear. He comes at a time when he is not expected, the dead are all raised, the righteous separated from the wicked. They are all judged. The wicked go to hell, the righteous to heaven

Not really! From the OP of this thread: http://www.city-data.com/forum/chris...o-rapture.html

There is a simple progression to Jesus' words in these verses.

The broader context in chapters 13-17 are Jesus' final teachings before His suffering. He is telling His disciples that He is going away. Because of this they were troubled but Christ assured them that He would return. In the interim period He would send them another Comforter - the Holy Spirit - to guid them into all truth.

Now here is the progresstion:

1) Jesus is going to go away (v.3a). He is going to HEAVEN where the Father is but this not His Fathers HOUSE. Heaven does not need to be preapared. What is being prepared is a place [think RSVP] in His Father HOUSE not heaven. Even as Phil.3:20 says '...our citizenship is [already at this present time] in heaven...' The Father's HOUSE is not heaven but the Coming EARTHLY KINGDOM.

2) Jesus is going to come back (v.3b). There is no hint of a rapture here. In fact since Jesus was present visibly with them He patterns His return after His 1st coming - visibly and present with them. This is the 2nd coming. Ask yourself this question WHERE IS HE WHEN HE COMES AGAIN? He is not in Heaven but back on Earth ready to set up the Earthly Kingdom. The text does not say anything about Jesus making a U-turn to go back to heaven.

And

3) Jesus is going to recieve them to Himself (v.3c). Yes the disciples are going to go into the Kingdom because He has prepared a place for them in it.

Here are some pertinent verses:

Matt.6:10-13 – ‘Your [the Father's] kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven… For yours is the kingdom and power and glory forever. Amen.’

Matt.7:21-23 – ‘Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord,’ Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven.’

Matt.13:36-43 – ‘Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.’

Matt.19:28-30 – ‘Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.’

Matt.25:31-34 – ‘When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another…’ ‘Then the King will say to those on His right hand, come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you…’

Ther is NO RAPTURE IN JOHN 14
