This stuff about 1/3 angels falling and 2/3's staying loyal and a big battle in heaven where Michael drove the fallen angels down to earth has been floating around for 4000 years or so. It's so prevalent that every traditional Christian in America has picked it up somewhere along the way. I was hearing all this nonsense even as a Roman Catholic kid.

...and then, for Christians not taken in by ignorant rants, the Bible also has something to say on the matter:

Is. 14:12-16 How you [Lucifer] have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 13 You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. 14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” 15 But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit. 16 Those who see you stare at you, they ponder your fate:

2 Pet. 2:2-5 - 2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. -- 4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a [a]preacher of righteousness, ....

Jude 1:5-7 - 5 Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, 7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah

Rev. 12:5-10 - 7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. 10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.

Rev. 9:14-15 - 14 It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.

Rev. 12:3-5 - 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems. 4 And his tail *swept away a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth.

... and the end of the story, clearly showing that Satan will not ultimately repent, but, will instead be cast into the Lake of Fire:

Rev. 20:10-15 - 10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Grasshoppers with stinging scorpion tails; demons with frogs hopping out of their mouths; talking lampstands; sea serpents; dragons; devils; demons???

Horton, honestly, do you really take this stuff seriously????

I'm telling you--no wonder the Christian church is in so much trouble.

The fate and destination of Satan and the fallen angels is already decided and there is no changing it. Satan and his angels will be cast into the lake of fire forever, as will those members of the human race who die without receiving Christ as Savior. Jghorton already posted a number of verses in post #11 which show that Satan's appointment with the lake of fire is certain.

I thought God forgives anyone who truly repents

Lucifer was an angel and Jesus died for humans, not angels. I have never read in the Bible about an angel repenting or given the opportunity to repent.

Sounds more like the definition of a cult?

This is like being in some kind of bizarre netherworld with demons flying around hissing at people and their antagonists flashing crosses at them to ward them off. I see this kind of stuff in films like Van Helsing and Dracula but I'd never in my wildest dreams believe that otherwise rational people in the 21st century could actually believe these Medieval tales of demons and devils lurking around corners waiting to pounce on unsuspecting people like they do in the Grimm TV show.

I'm flabbergasted. It's......beyond belief.

So whyaren't Satan and his minions there already?

I mean, if when I die I am condemned to hell instantly, why does Satan get a pass?

Yea...Just like Mary Magdalene being a hooker...But the thing with the 1/3 comes from Jewish Kabbala...If memory serves...
