Im assuming you are only referring to the issue of tattooing. I've had this discussion with many young people and have never had any of them convince me that the reasons for the adornment align with the Word of God, especially women but men also. We are not to be conformed to this world but are to reflect God through our actions. John said, "He must increase, I must decrease."

So while the Mosaic law does not apply, tattoos are wrong according to the new creation doctrine of Christ.

It does not take a Bible scholar to understand this as it is clearly laid out in the New Testament.

::Sigh:: What is in our heart and mind determines what is sinful and what is not . . . NOT things. If what we do is truly done out of "love of God and each other" . . . it is NOT sin, period.

ALL of God's commandments from His Word share their base with loving God and others. They are one in the same. Getting a tattoo is sin because it is not loving God above ourselves.

And that argument, which I have also heard, is one of the reasons I 'bout fell off my chair when I read a particular poster's declaration that he has a tattoo. You have one opinion. He has another. Such is the nature of religion.

It's noted, however that you moved the goal posts so..... waddya know! The pastors I know are "covered" and don't have to see a pastor. Amazing how that works.

Many of my Christian friends have tattoos, however they recieved them before they were believers. In the end, and I mean the very end, when we are all alone standing before God seated on the throne of judgement, we must give an account for our own actions. All of us have complete access to the Word of God and as such are without excuse and cannot claim that we were misled by the false teachings of others.

I suppose that shaving would be a sin; it's something people do for themselves?
However, that's not a problem, as I merely maintain a beard; and have long hair.

BTW - I also smoke a pipe, but it has never defiled me (but, I'm not Bill Clinton).

Since love of God is a state of mind . . . NOT an external act . . . please explain how getting a tattoo (an external act) reveals a lack of love of God???

For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your tattoos you will be condemned."

Do you see what is wrong here ?.
