Just found it interesting to find in the Bible where God says His holy spirit was within Moses. There are many who say the term holy spirit doesn't appear in the OT. Surely it does. KJV

Isaiah 63:10-11--But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them. 11--Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

The Holy Spirit didn't really indwell people in the OT the way He does in the NT. When Christ left He sent the Spirit to indwell believers. Throughout the OT, we see a progressive revelation---what we see of God starts out a bit fuzzy in Genesis after the Fall, and progressively grows more and more clear until we see him incarnate as a man in Jesus.

The spirit of God has always dwelt in man. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a process of cleansing, purging and removing sins. This is the trial by fire spoken of in the Bible. The refining of us done by God himself. Moses went through this type of baptism. Forty days and nights on the mountain with God.
Found another place that the term Holy Spirit appears in OT
Psalm 51:11--Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.

Got any verses to support that?

Yes. David had the Holy Spirit at times. But it wasn't a permanent indwelling.

Read the story of his life. It came and went. Jesus also said that when he left, the Helper would come--meaning the Spirit.

Vizio, your not gonna believe this.
First, 1 Timothy 5:24 states that some come to judgment before hand. That's what the trial by fire is and what is gone through before God manifests His powers through someone. All prophets and Apostles were tried and baptized by fire.
New Testament
Luke 3:16-17, Romans 13:1-6, 1 Corinthians 3:13-20, 2 Corinthians 5:10, 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, Galatians 4:13-14, Philippians 1:29-30, 1 Thess. 1:6, 2 Thess. 1:4-5, Hebrews 10:31-32, Hebrews 4:12-13, 1 Peter 1:7, 4:1-2, Matthew 3:11, Luke 3:16-17
Old Testament
Job 23:10, 19:29, Zechariah 3:1-5, Malachi 3:2-3, Psalm 66:10-12, Jeremiah 9:7
Numbers 31:23-24--Everything that may abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water. 24--And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall come into the camp.---This is a parallel for baptism by water and fire. The seventh day is the day of rest for God and His chosen.
I think I have more somewhere, I'll check on it.

Aaron the Priest had an anointing of Holy Spirit on His clothes and the breastplate which God commanded Aaron to wear where when the end of Aaron life came he lost the anointing of Holy Spirit ....As in Numbers 20:22-29.....``And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor by the coast of Edom .....`Take Aaron and Eleazar his son , and bring them up into Mountain Hor...And strip Aaron of His garments, and put them on Eleazar his son...and Arron will be gathered to his people and will die there`.....And Moses did what the Lord commanded . and Moses stripped Aaron of garments and put them of Eleazar his son , and Aaron died there on the top of the mountain , and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount..``...... See the anointing of God Spirit protected Aaron through out His priest ministries , by the clothes God commanded Him to wear , so when he took these cloths off , Judgment came , and He died ....... ..... Then In 2 Kings 2: 9 ..``....And it came to pass , when they were gone over that Elijah said to Elisha, Ask what I will do for you, before I be taken away from you ...And Elisha said `I pray, let a double portion of your spirit be on me ....And Elijah said You have asked a hard thing , if you see me when I am taken from you it will be so to you , but if not , it will not be so.......then a chariot of fire , and horses of fire , and parted them , both asunder, and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into Heaven...``...... See Elijah had a school of prophets , and had the anointing of Holy Spirit .... So the potential of people of the children of Israel having Holy Spirit , but mostly people alway rejected the Holy Spirit .....

Sheila, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit did not exist prior to the beginning of the Church Age. In Old Testament times there was a ministry of the Holy Spirit which we call enduement. The Holy Spirit enpowered certain men so that they could accomplish certain tasks. But this enduement was by no means universal and could be withdrawn when the task was completed, or due to sin. This is why David prayed ''Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.'' (Psalm 51:11). The judges of Israel for instance were enpowered by the Holy Spirit for their function as judges.

And you should be aware that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. They are completely different ministries, neither of which existed before the Day of Pentecost at which time the Church Age began fifty days after the resurrection of Jesus. The purpose of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is to place the Church Age believer into union with Christ. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the basis for the formation of the Church.

There are a number of different ministries of the Holy Spirit during the Church Age which occur at the moment of salvation.

1. Regeneration which is common to all dispensations. God the Holy Spirit is the agent of regeneration. At the moment of faith in Christ Jesus we are born again through the regenerating ministry of the Holy Spirit (John 3:5-16).

2. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This ministry is the means by which the Church Age believer is identified with Christ; placed into union with Him, and placed into the body of Christ which is the Church. 'For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.' (1 Cor. 12:13). This did not exist prior to the Church Age.

3. The Indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The purpose of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is to make the body of the Church Age believer a temple for the indwelling of Jesus Christ the Shekinah glory. Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16) In the Age of Israel, Jesus Christ, the Shekinah glory of Israel indwelt the Tabernacle and then the Temple. The Shekinah glory appeared between the two cherubs above the mercy seat in the Holy of holies. In the Church Age Jesus indwells the body of the believer.

4. The sealing of the Holy Spirit which is a pledge of the believers inheritance with a view to the redemption of God's own possession. The sealing ministry of the Holy Spirit is a guarantee of the believers eternal security. 'In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-- having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.' (Eph. 1:13-14).

5. The filling of the Holy Spirit. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, (Eph. 5:18) Whereas the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is permanent, the fillng of the Spirit is lost through sin, and regained when sin is simply acknowledged to God as per 1 John 1:9. This is why the believer is commanded to be filled with the Spirit. At any given moment the believer is either under the control of the Holy Spirit, or under the control of his old sin nature. To execute God's plan for your life you must be filled with the Spirit which again is regained through the confession of your known sins to God.

6. The distribution of spiritual gifts. It is God the Holy Spirit who sovereignly decides which believer gets which spiritual gift. 'But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills' (1 Cor. 12:11).

Each of these ministries is different and has a different purpose.

There are those who really do not know what the Holy Spirit is. They think it is some kind of Ghost or something. The Holy Spirit dwells in the righteous but the wicked have no understanding. The righteous do what is right and serve the Lord. Yes, the Holy Spirit was around since the beginning. Remember when Jesus breathed on the disciples and said; "Receive the Holy Spirit." That was a clue. Remember when God breathed into Adam and he became a living soul. There was a clue there. It is for the true believer and the righteous to know, not those who walk in the dark and show their nakedness.

Whoever has ears let him hear; Let the righteous rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in Him, let all the upright of heart glorify Him.
