When a man uses what "he" believes to be the deception/lie in the first place...to gain favor with what he does believe in.. what worth is that mans credit to begin with?
~trust in Jesus over all men. In the end of all of it, we stand or fall by His Words, not mans.
No, not really...I believe if you don't do the Mitzvot out of love for G-d and your fellow man, then it means nothing...

You see, it is posts like these that give a mixed message, Richard. The first suggests you understand that it is WHY we do things that really matters. But the second suggests that you are merely a rule follower because we have been told to obey. It gives the impression that God wants very specific things DONE by us (for whatever reasons) and NOT because of the state of mind that doing such things SHOULD embody. What we DO can be done for MYRIAD reasons. That is why doing SPECIFIC things means nothing and has nothing to do with what God wants. Giving to charity for a tax break is not charitable. God wants us to BE charitable in our heart and mind, period. What you eat or wear (or anything else) is irrelevant if it does not invoke the proper state of mind in you. The focus should be on having the correct state of mind and apply it to EVERYTHING you DO. It is silly to focus on specific things to DO because you are told to obey and somehow hope that the correct state of mind will automatically accompany it.

Why don't we jump off a skyscraper?...Because of the law of gravity tells us we can't...I see things a lot clearer than you may think...If you told me that you never hated anyone in your whole life, I would have to question your honesty...
Besides, I was arguing what Elmer said vs. what was said in the NT...Jesus told folks to what the Pharasee told them but not to do as they do it...That's pretty simple to understand...
Jesus told those who based their righteousness on the law to keep on keepin' on, because (in His infinite wisdom) He knew it would bring them to their knees - just like His Daddy at Mt. Sinai.
But you refuse everything about scripture flowing together, so continue - you too will come to the end of yourself...and your Savior will be waiting.

That is because you have an edited version of the Hebrew Bible...It's sad that you know nothing because you seek nothing...You're still a little child...

Funny how he told you right there in the NT to obey the Law...
The greatest in the kingdom is he who keeps the law and teaches others to keep the law, and what does this prove?
THAT man is a brethren amongst tribal members as if they were ancient Indians who kept the fire and the smoke, they are not of this world, but nomads looking for a home.
Tribal members amongst the brethren.
Overcoming the World
…2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments. 3For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. 4For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world-- our faith.…
The world teaches that a man must be ambitious like a king, but this is not our kingdom, what man in his right mind would be a king in this life and choose to be a servant in the next?
