don't envy you in that long line trying to explain this to the Lord......it won't be pretty..........
Now what is the point of saying something like that? Yes, cupper likes to nat on Christianity. In the words of the Geico commercial, if you're cupper, that's what you do. He makes it plain that he's an atheist, and he knows a lot about Christianity, sometimes more than some of the Christians. Sometimes he's wrong. We all are. Even me, sometimes.

But if YOU are a Christian, what do you hope to accomplish by threatening a person who doesn't believe in God with standing in a "long line" waiting for eternal damnation? It's not going to mean anything to cupper or any other atheist. He probably laughed when he read it. Do you think that's Christlike behavior? Do you think that's loving? Do you think God is pleased when you say something like that to another human being? Do you really think YOU get to decide who will stand in that long line? How do you know that your own judgementalism won't put you in the queue?

It really just makes you sound like some sort of demented creeper salivating at the thought of others getting the ax on Judgment Day. It's weird. Stop.

Well stated. Agape love: loving those who think exactly like you do and dismissing all else. At least 5hat is how it comes out from so many Christians, they don't even accept catholics let alone the religion of all of Jesus ancestors according to their own book.

Neither will be the look on your face when you find out God doesn't need your help and starts pulling people out of your "Thou Art a Sinner!" line.

Maybe He has a line for all the people who went through life giving the Frowny Face of Judgement. (TM) to people. That will be a VERY long line. Wear comfy shoes.

And once again, Dew says it better in fewer words.

Really? The guys on ETWN radio would disagree. Why should I believe you?

Why do you think it is that most of the time when you hear of a suicide bomber or a plane being hijacked, we automatically assume it's a muslim?

Except that Christianity teaches us to love our enemies.
Catholic theology is that it is the faith that brings one into full communion with Christ. That is not the same thing as believing it is the only true church. Catholics absolutely believe that other Christians will get into Heaven.

Is that true? I don't think it was always that way. I hope so.

As a matter of fact, in Angela's Ashes, Frank McCourt tells how as children in Ireland he and his brother would watch the pretty Protestant girls running around playing and wonder how they could be so lighthearted and carefree knowing they were Doomed.

Just curious!
There are many different beliefs under the protestant and evangelical umbrella. Too many to ever clump together. Some evangelical leaders would never attend anything that is interfaith, because they would never want to give the appearance of agreeing or approving, or taking part in other religions.

It is not condemning them in any way, it is simply not partaking in things together with them while representing their faith. To some, the Catholic and Muslim religions are completely pagan, at best. There would be no difference in doing an interfaith ceremony with satanist or wiccans.

Some would not want to give religious approval to such a ceremony. Noone has to agree with their beliefs, but they are free to believe however they want. Biblically, if they believe someone to be pagan, they should not be joining in ceremonies with pagans. It does not mean that they hate them, they just believe they worship different gods than them, and want nothing to do with it.

The good thing is, that if people don't agree with those beliefs, they don't have to share them. They also, are free to believe whatever they want. If people choose to participate in something like that, they can. If they don't want to, they don't have to.

That's the beauty of this country.

Very little in the NT is real. Paul was a real person. The gospels ascribed to Mark, Luke, John and Matthew are just that, ascribed to those names. In fact, it is posited by some scholars that some of the especially later gospels were not even written by one person, never mind the names that bear their name.

I've said it before, Paul was a great marketer. Something like a modern day Billy Graham or Benny Hinn. Without Paul, the flavor of Christianity that exists today likely would not be there. He was even more influential in the Council of Nicaea.

Very perceptive of you. Your right.

You left out that I included Joesph Smith in that trinity of faith inventors.

We are all stardust. The atoms that exist in you will return to whence it came. That can actually be proven scientifically.

Someone's hope that there is a sentient, omnipresent, omniscient entity sitting somewhere out there is...well... out there. I'll go with science, as opposed the utterances of bronzed aged, superstitious, uneducated tribe of goat herders.

Frank McCourt grew up in pre-Vatican II Ireland with all its cultural and political issues.

Interestingly these intolerant Evangelicals are very much like the Muslim fundamentalists. It is their way or the highway. If religions were tolerant of each other the world would be a much better place.
