Jesus said, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Mt 6:34 NIV
I stopped worrying along time ago.Maybe somewhat concerned at times, but worry, not. Jesus gave this instruction for his reasons. No amount of worry will ever change the circumstance or the outcome of any problem. What do you think Jesus meant by his words
and/or do you worry?

You gave a good reason not to worry, it never changes the circumstances, it only makes us weary and gives us wrinkles. Jesus said cast your cares on Me because I care for you. Give your burdens to Him, lay your problems at the feet and Jesus and LEAVE them there. No I am not a worrier.

I come from a LONG line of chronic worriers...

Since reading this verse and Matthew 6:27
I've gotten a LOT better...

It comes down to trusting the Lord.
And if you can't trust Him, who can you trust?

Have I perfected NOT worrying?
No, but I've gotten a LOT better.
(Might even add years to my life... We'll see.)

Thanks for creating this thread JANA!
(Points for you... As soon as it lets me!)

We need to remember to cast our cares upon Him because He does care.

I do, and He does.
And He's always come through for us.

Which leads to my next question...
(Probably for another thread because I don't want this one to go off-topic. It's too important.)

Is it right to pray for things that we need
when there are people who have it WAY worse than we do?

My friend says yes, but I feel guilty when I do that.

Hi Jana Mania,
great subject, perfect for today... the complete lesson in ch. 6 is peaked in verse 34.

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

verse 34- Take therefore no thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Matthew 5,6,7 contains the gospel of Jesus, pure and direct.

If we are looking to tomorrow, how will we see what needs to be lived today. How can we be led by the spirit if our thoughts and eyes are not on the now.
The kingdom of God is at hand, it is now ever present and can only be part of us fully when we are praying without ceasing. We can grow to the point where we do only what we see the Father do. This takes awareness of today.

godspeed,

freedom

I believe that having a constant realization that all is in God's hands helps us not to worry. And if I find myself beginning to worry about something then I pray that God helps me not to worry and that He helps me to put my total trust in Him. We learn that all of our strength comes from Him and the peace that we have comes from Him. We can learn to praise Him in all circumstances whether they turn out the way we hope or not. We know that He is working all out for our good. God bless.

Freedom,As you've quoted, "But seek yee first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." Mt 6:33 (Jesus speaking.)
That verse is right before Mt 6:34," Do not worry about tomorrow," which shows that all verses work together and are self- explanatory.(And should not be taken out of context.)
Shana,Pray not to worry is wonderful "prayful" insight!

Don't let the devil make you feel guilty about praying about anything that concerns you. If it matters to us, it matters to God, no matter how small or big.
