I lead a weekly Bible study of middle-aged adults. We've been together as a group for almost 10 years. In addition to our Bible study, we minister to a group of at-risk teens.
I almost always attend church twice a week, one of those being a Bible study, but honestly the weekend sermons are a lot like a Bible study in that they're long and get deep in the Word, too. I love going deep into the Word and seeing all the amazing connections all over and throughout the Bible.
I need to be more structured in my own Bible study...I do too much of my reading on the internet but I get more out of it when I read in my physical Bible because I think highlighting and reading/making notes makes it easier for me to remember or get more out of it. I keep a smaller Bible at work since my main Bible is a study Bible and weighs like ten pounds, haha.
Like Nightsong, the more time I spend at church and in the Word the better my life gets. If I go through a week or two where I miss a service or two due to health or some other conflict I can't avoid, I notice its impact on my outlook in life as well. I really feel like my life turned a corner when I stopped going to church "some" of the time and started really committing to going every week. Before I knew it I was going twice a week because going every week made such a difference for me.
Praise God for the mercy and grace He has shown me in bringing me closer to Him and His incredible patience with my sins.
Class is different though.....you can ask questions
You can't ask questions in the middle of a sermon
