First off I am in no way attacking the Mormon Church when I write this. I am simply interested in knowing if Mormon's know that when Joseph Smith organized the church that blacks were allowed to hold the priesthood and some actually took out their endowments in the temple (something only worthy women and priesthood holding men can do) There were several blacks that held the priesthood. In fact they were encouraged to join the church. It was only after Joseph Smith was murdered and a very racist Brigham Young took over that they were banned from the practice. There was never anything said that it was a revelation from God that they could not, Young simply did not like Blacks. Does the church mention that in its services or when teaching? Just want to know what Mormon's think of this.
