Mainstream Christianity sees Jesus as a man who saves mankind because of His death on the cross.
They see the son of man as the man Jesus but Jesus Himself said the son of man is the truth, the word of God.
There is a very big difference in seeing the word of God as your salvation and a man as your salvation.
Jesus emphasized the need for Gods word.
He said to remain in His word and follow Him as He was sent.
The son of man is the word of God and One with His followers because of the word of God.
It is the word of God that brings life and saves not Jesus the man.
"It is the spirit that gives life the flesh is useless, the words I spoke to you are spirit and life." (SON OF MAN)
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.
The man who comes to me hears my word and puts it to use.
My brother's mother and sisters hear the word of God and do it.
Yet, you are clean because of the word I've spoken to you.

The son of man is Gods servant. He is One with the Father and all the prophets. When one serves the Father in spirit and truth he enters into the realm of the son of man so as to become sanctified in God's glory and set at the right hand of the Father.

Jesús is the Word of God, Following Jesús is Following the Word of God. God Created the Universe out of his Word, He SAID "be made" and things were made.

Jesús is man since he was born in flesh from the womb of a pure Woman. And through his Obedience we have been found capable of Obedience, and redempted, Through his Sacrifice he carried all the punishement we deserve due to our sins and in his wunds we have been saned, in his resurrection we have been saved.
