Why would anyone want to trade in Jesus for the temporary pleasures (and sure destruction) of sin?
There are some bible believers on here who have said if all are saved they might as well lived it up(whatever that means, i'm guessing living a life of sin) Why would they IF(That's a huge IF) they have tasted the Lord is good ?.
A person who has been set free from the devils that bound him/her in a life of sin and returns to his/her old sinful lifestyle is much worse off than before. Jesus had this to say:
Matthew 12
[43] When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
[44] Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
[45] Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
There is another passage that makes the point even clearer: 2 Peter 2:20-22
20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.
21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them.
22 Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”
Why would anyone want to trade in Jesus for the temporary pleasures (and sure destruction) of sin?
Jesus explains several reasons why: trouble \ persecution because of the word -- worries of this life and deceitfulness of wealth.
“Listen then to what the parable of the sower means:
The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy.
But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word,
they quickly fall away.
The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word,
but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.
New American Standard Bible John 5:14
Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, "Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse happens to you."
Those who are living with the daughter of Babylon (Zech 2:7) have already received of "her plagues" (Rev 18:4), and have not repented. A sick man who is not healed, is still a sick man.
Yes.... the “house” was swept clean by Jesus, there needs to be care with how the “house” of God is built
In Matthew 12:44-45 Jesus said ........``I return to the house I left , On its arrival it finds the house vacant swept clean and put in order ....Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself and they go in and dwell there , and the final plight of that man is worse than the first , so will it be with this wicked generation .................`` See Jesus spirit does provide His followers with gifts of power to kick the devil out so the devil temptations will not succeed
If all these rules from the law and earthly ministry were still in effect NOBODY would be saved today.....
No One is saved today for surely you will die, that's yet in an age to come.
