Why all the evangelical angst about a message based in LOVE?
But z, it's not all about love. What does Michael Curry have to say about the fact that so many people are doomed to just roast in hell for all eternity because they don't believe X, Y, or Z? That's what's REALLY important. I mean, doesn't that just zero out all that silly God is Love stuff?
Seriously? You really think if you put that sort of a twist on it, people are going to fall for it? He doesn't want to identify with people who call themselves CHRISTIANS because of the bad behavior of so many that is giving that group a negative image. That is sad, but hopefully, it might make people who call themselves Christians but treat others badly THINK.
This is the guy who is always talking about how Jesus started a movement and that the Episcopal Church is just a branch of the "Jesus Movement", so there's no way you can say he "chooses not to identify himself with Christ." The little dude is all about Christ, up down and sideways.
Clearly. I have always said, if I ever return to church, it will probably be an Episcopal congregation. I do not want to be identified with most denominations of modern Christianity. I do want to be known as a friend and sister of Jesus Christ.

Well, maybe folks like you will keep the doors of Episcopalian churches open. I think the good Rev fired up a few liberal hearts.

I watched and listened to the sermon but admit to being distracted by trying to name all the Famous Guests the camera panned to now and again.
But I'm quite certain I caught the gist of it. By actual guesstimation, he said the word "love" 4,372 times. In about 13 minutes and change.
Which I'm fairly certain is a record.
He also worked in a good reference to the element of fire.
