I'm sure most Christians know that Jesus Christ is a title, and not the man's actual name. Why are so many Christians averse to referring to Jesus by his actual name?

Maybe because the Bible refers to him as Jesus.

All the ones that mention Jesus in Hebrew (pre-Greek, etc.). You know people in Biblical times were not calling him "Jesus Christ".

"Christ" is a title. There are places where Jesus is referred to as "the Christ".

"Jesus" is the modern form of His given name in Hebrew, Yeshua. as rendered in a large number of languages, including English and Spanish, though pronounced differently.

You can call Him Jesus, Yeshua, Jesu, Yehoshua, Jisui (Albanian), Isa (Azerbaijanian), Xesus (Galician), Ciise (Somalian), etc. It's all the same person. There's no doubt who is being referred to. So why is it an issue for you?

From Wikipedia: "Christ comes from the Greek word χριστός (chrīstós), meaning "anointed one". The word is derived from the Greek verb χρίω (chrī́ō), meaning "to anoint."[12] In the Greek Septuagint, χριστός was a semantic loan used to translate the Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (Mašíaḥ, messiah), meaning "[one who is] anointed".[13]"

This is ridiculous. Until it became trendy in some Christian circles, particularly the Messianic movement, NOBODY anywhere ever in English-speaking Christianity referred to Jesus as "Yeshua".

Did you think hundreds of millions of English-speaking people were suddenly going to say, "Oh, gee willikers, we've been calling Jesus by the wrong name all this time! New rule, folks, we call him by the Hebrew version of the name from now on."

How about John, one of the most popular Christian names in history? It was Yohanan in Hebrew, but it's John, Jan, Ian, Ivan, Sean, Juan, Jean...depending upon what language you speak.

Mathew 22:37

"Yeshua said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."

I think you might be missing the point. Are you saying that his name was not Yeshua Ben Yosef? This does not directly translate to Jesus Christ. A modern translation would be "Joshua Son of Joseph".

I have seen the transliteration of Yeshua (Hebrew) to Jesus (Latin/Greek). But my question is why many Christians do not refer to him by his original name. But I think the previous posters adequately answered the question. Thanks
