He gives people the opportunity to renew their minds, he surely is not one to hold upon a pedestal, nor would he probably like that.
As always it is best to go direct to the source "GOD". But i'd sure take Olsteen's teaching of accountability and empowerment over the "you need do nothing, did you say this prayer now your saved, thank you Jeeeeesus'.

He is on a pedestal , he is in forbes, on magazine covers, books, tv, buttons, bumper stickers, etc. etc.

I think he will be a flash in the pan. He has no depth when he speaks, he rarely uses the Bible and it the typical "Prosperity" preacher who tickles the ear of the listener. He comes across like a "nice guy" I know he does memorize his talks which is pretty amazing. But I have a friend who is the head of a seminary and he says that Joel scares him to death. He says all the money and building are in his name which I don't think is very good. He has quite a following but I think he excites his congregation with lots of things God will do for them without the accountability side of Christianity. God is not Santa Claus who is there to give us lots of money, success and possessions.
Onourway,,,great U-tube video. Another good one right on that page is one that is called, "Olseen said what?". Very revealing about how he does not use the Bible correctly.
The commentator spoke with zero love in his voice, and the judgement and fear of many pastor/preachers that have continued to turn people away from God by the millions.
The Bible is not a self help book, Christianity doesn't promise a better life, all you have to do is look at Christians in the middle east and Asia to see that, they are suffering by the the millions.
Olsteen is not real minister, doesn't preach the word of God and is doing his congregation a disservice.
He is lying to people that there lives will be so much better now that they are Christians. What happens when bad things happen? what is his excuse?
That's it! Jesus took upon himself God's wrath that was meant for us, suffered immense pain and anguish both physically and spiritually so that I can have a beamer and a $400,000 dollar home. What could I be thinking?
The gospel is more than sufficient, the water of life Jesus promised the woman at the well that she will never thirst again. People like Olsteen's members want to have their ears tickled like the bible says.
2 Timothy 4:3
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their earstickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,"
Yes yes YES! You're absolutely right. IMO people like osteen because he preaches feel good, prosperity christianity. Christianity isnt hard he says. What kind of christianity is he living then? Jesus said pick up your cross and follow him. The disciples lived very difficult lives and died horrible deaths.
Life is difficult and God never says he'll give you prosperity. He only promises that he will give us what we need and that we will find relief in heaven from the troubles we face on earth.

I did'nt see it as a hell fire sermon by any means.

Fear in that, their false doctrines of need do nothing, but say a magic prayer are resulting in a exodus of their churches, while Joel's grows and grows.

Fear of the Lord means in Awe and reverence of. Not to be afraid.
