God still speaks to people today, through His Word, the Holy Spirit, Godly people, and circumstances. If we as believers are walking in the Spirit and understand the meaning of the cross and allow the Holy Spirit to fill us and live His life through us, then is should be easy to distinguish whether the voice we hear is of God, the flesh, or the devil. The voice of God will never tell us to engage in any activity that is inconsistent with Scripture. Psalm 85:8 says the Lord speaks peace to His people.
Amen!
The Holy Spirit is alive and still speaks.
(Although not in a way which would be perceived by the natural mind.)
He is always in agreement with the Word.
Revelation 3:20,Luke 10:16,There are accounts in the scripture where God speaks to his people,I do know that He speaks to me.We just have to stop and listen. Sometimes we are to busy running our mouths to hear anything God has to say.....Yes, satan counterfiets what the Lord does and twists the word for his advantage...If unsure pray pray and pray....................
Have you guys ever thought about how God spoke to the Israelites from Mount Sinai, and they feared for their lives; meanwhile, we find His voice comforting?
It is for getting God's will done on earth not to mention we pray to demonstrate our faith in God, that He will do as He has promised in His Word and will bless our lives abundantly more than we could ask or hope for.
If I need to know God's words for me, I go to scripture.

Fundie, i can sure understand in this Churchianity climate of ours that you say this, but really if you could explain,
What did millions of people do before the 1400's? or the 1500's for that matter?
Guess God has gone silent? or is it.... we have stopped listening and keep searching scriptures... where there is no eternal life. Eternal life is given by the power of Christ, even the Holy spirit.
Learn our Fathers voice and a stranger we shall not follow.
The two always agree and we should not neglect either.
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. 2Tim 3:16,17
"You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; John 5:39
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Romans 8:14

So did millions of people neglect them before they were put in the hands of believers?
Only clergy and a few special people were able to have copies of the Nicean approved scriptures, or the Bible as we know it, up until it was put into a New English Translation by Tyndale in the late 1400's, and then they were so expensive that only a few could afford.
So basically one had to rely on the Clergy reading and reciting to the sheeple for 1500 yrs.
I think God's plan of writing the truth in our hearts is far more consistent and accessible.
The written word can make someone aware.
Whereas the unwritten makes one alive.
I say this, because todays practice is rote memory over still listening. Rarely if ever do i hear a sermon or talk on listening first to the still small voice of God and follow His leading over man's interpretation of His word.
Although the completed Bible was not printed in those earliest years, the word of God was still available to His disciples. I do not believe Jesus was mistaken when he said "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words will not pass away". I fully believe that His word has always been with the disciples. It may not have been available to the common people in the the RCC, but I am sure the disciples kept it alive.
I do not subscribe to anyone except those who the Holy Spirit fell upon in the beginning of the church, knowing the teachings of Christ, except through those who it had been given to. The theory that people are still being given the word of God, without reading the written word, is totally contrary to scripture. Even back there in the beginning of the church, only a few chosen ones were given the teachings of Christ by inspiration.
